220 grain 30-06 ammo

220 grain 30-06 ammo

PostAuthor: cacador » Mon Oct 10, 2016 4:30 pm

Has anyone tried firing 220 grain ammo in IOF 30-06 rifle or any other rifle? where can i get them in India? Can anyone tell me why the cost of 8x57mm JS ammo price is so high in India compared to 30-06 ammo? although the international rates for both are same.

Rifles and Ammo are matched to each other.
In case of the 30-06 spring. the loads that work best are 150 g 165 g and 180 g.

Use what is available in India readily i.e. the S & B 180 g SP and you will never go wrong.

The Case for the 220 gr bullet.

A 180 gr 30-06 Cartridge loaded with 48 grains of IMHR 3040 powder produces 2700 fpsVm and 2913 ft; lb Em
A 220 gr Bullet factory loaded with 54 gr of same powder produces 2500 fps Vm and 2960 Em
Where is your advantage coming ?
A 220 grain bullet is purely for hand loading where you load 60 grains of powder and produce Em of 3100 ft, lb
This will create a higher bolt pressure, the primer will sink from the case base and if the brass is not high quality it may even crack.
What's the use ?
