Silver at A.I.G.V. MavlankarFriends my elder brother has won a silver medal at All India G.V. Mavlankar Championship in Big Bore at Mhow, in the open sight 300m prone.

Re: Silver at G.V. MavlankarHearty congratulations !
Is that the IOF 30-06 rifle ? A gun by your side is better than police in the neighbourhood.

Re: Silver at G.V. Mavlankaryes olly it is.
Re: Silver at G.V. MavlankarSo, it is not a bad gun after all.... my choice of choosing one for myself gets a pat... !
Any modifications done to the gun, or is it the same as it came from the company ? Which year was it purchased... i mean model... ? A gun by your side is better than police in the neighbourhood.

Re: Silver at G.V. Mavlankarby looking at the score only will let us know if this is worth to buy.
By the way, do we have choice other than IOF in big bore?
Re: Silver at G.V. MavlankarIts not bad at all
No modification have been done so far, and its a 2008 model
Re: Silver at G.V. MavlankarCould you post some more info on :
1) The ammo used 2) Price per round that was charged at the venue 3) How many practice rounds were issued Thanks... ! A gun by your side is better than police in the neighbourhood.

Re: Silver at G.V. MavlankarThe ammo used was S&B competition.
No ammo was issued at the venue, every participant has to get his own.
Re: Silver at G.V. MavlankarCongratulations to your brother shah. Introduce him to TGG and ask him to share his experience with us. He has done a great job, first match of bigbore and a silver medal in his first attempt.

Re: Silver at G.V. MavlankarThanks guys. Danish will ask bhai to join in.
Re: Silver at G.V. MavlankarHI! Congratulations to your bro Shah! Good Job & Well done.
Speaking from Experience: That said I personally feel that if you had put on peep sights on the rifle and participated in the peep sight event -your bro would have had a shot at qualifying for the NSCC and if he shot the qualifying score he would have become a renowned shot and would have been eligible for the benifits. However this is just my opinion but that would have been the route I would have taken , no use shooting a open sight match which just terminates at the all-India stage without any benifits and does not go on to NSCC level. Anyways best wishes and well done. If you are hanging on at the venue for the Nationals will be there in Indore tommorow (26/12 evening ) and at the venue on 27/12

Re: Silver at A.I.G.V. MavlankarThanks Shutzen, I completely agree with you about shooting peep sights, but only if things were so easy, And as it was bhais first year participating wanted to do it for the experience, and he sure got to learn a lot.And will surly try for the peep sight event next year.
The target rifles were not been shot in the open sight but were present at the venue and bhai had a chance to admire them.
Re: Silver at A.I.G.V. MavlankarCongratulations to your brother, shah.
Regards I.......have become comfortably numb.
