An effort to design shooting gears in India

PostAuthor: prasad.tamhane » Tue May 14, 2013 1:23 am

Hi Guys,

I am in sports shooting for a long time (however, I am not good at it). The main thing that hits me a most that the all the quality shooting gears/weapons are all foreign made. In some post I had few rough arguments with some joker who was trying to imply how bad IHP really is. Well, without getting in to that argument again, I want to show you some of my efforts to bring down the cost of shooting below a level where more and more shooters can afford to participate in it.

My first design was shooting frames. I did it a long time ago but due to my day job didn't get a chance to actually make it. I have got all the drawings available but gotta spend some time with the machinist to actually oversee the prototype production. My estimate is that these frames can be manufactured for less than Rs. 5,000/-

Let me know what you guys think.

Some great work. You should immediately go in for manufacturing. Quite a few are looking for locally available stuff.

This is a Brno Mod2 rifle converted to peep sight free rifle with floated barrel. Total cost Rs. 40,000 + taxes. Ideal for rifle clubs and beginner shooters. Also designed bipod myself and built. Will try and get some photos of the rifle with the bipod.

I am in a need of shooting frame asap. I believe you should go for manufacturing asap, you will have many takers.
If you are a good air gunner you will probably be a good a fire arm user too however the vice versa is not at all true :D
